Heavy Gauge Stamping

Working with high-strength alloys and thick-gauge metals is an undertaking that requires the use of specialized materials, presses, and techniques. Heavy gauge stamping is a metal forming process that plays a key role in manufacturing precision-engineered, durable components for the construction industry. The process involves materials thicker than 0.5” or 14mm and requires more stamping tonnage to cut through workpieces compared to traditional gauge stamping.

With heavy gauge metal stamping, we fabricate crucial structural components, such as:

Coil-fed heavy gauge stamping is a cost-effective method for producing a high volume of metal parts for manufacturing. However, some manufacturers are limited in their stamping capacities due to the thickness of certain coils. At Ohio Valley Manufacturing, our coil-fed metal stamping capabilities can accommodate heavy gauge materials. Our 4,000-ton press the capability to handle material thicknesses up to 0.650” (16 mm), with a maximum stroke of 24” and a bed size of 84” x 236”.

We can provide heavy gauge steel stamping for a vast range of industrial applications, working with various blanks, forms, and other materials to match our customers’ needs. We can also produce high-quality products from formed stampings, circle blanks, transfer stampings, and surface-mount pins. Our technicians specialize in progressive, compound, and blank-thru dies.

Precision Blanking

Precision blanking uses shear force to punch a metal piece (a blank) out of a metal sheet or coil. The fabrication process involves the following steps:

  • A coil is run through a die to punch out the desired form.
  • A blanking punch, similar in shape to the desired part, is positioned above the metal coil.
  • A press drives the punch down into the opening of the die, removing the blank from the primary metal sheet.
Precision Blanking

The construction industry relies on precision blanking to fabricate support structures, brackets, and other metal components used in infrastructure, road grating, and buildings. The process provides the necessary strength and precision for these components, ensuring the utmost durability and safety in construction projects. Its high efficiency is essential to meeting the large-scale requirements and complex challenges of the construction industry.

Metal Stamping

When designing and executing new construction projects, builders, framers, and engineers depend on affordable building solutions that are reliable, durable, and labor-efficient. The manufacturing of these building components requires high-quality metal stampings that are sustainable and flexible enough for the end application.

Metal stamping processes can create a wide variety of customized components from metal bars or sheets. Automated machine-driven dies quickly and efficiently press and cut various materials into the required shape, making the process an ideal solution for high-volume production runs. With the proper setup, our skilled technicians can perform multiple steps simultaneously on each part. Our dependable metal stamping equipment can perform the following techniques to meet a diverse range of design specifications:
